Get to Know our CSR, Derek Hamilton
As a customer service representative, Derek communicates with clients in-person and over the phone to assist with their needs or answer any questions regarding their projects or Elite’s products and services. Derek also delivers copy/scan projects and deposition transcripts, as well as create work orders for clients.
Get to know Derek by reading our interview with him below.
Tell me about yourself!
I was born and raised in the Dallas area and am still here today. I have three children with ages ranging from 5 years old to 25 years old.
I have been in this business for 26 years, and I’ve been with Elite since 2013. Most of my spare time is spent chasing my 5 year old around and attending church activities.
What have been your biggest accomplishments at Elite?
Some of my accomplishments at Elite include working well together as a team, while also building long lasting relationships with both clients and coworkers. And although I am not in sales, I have been able to bring in business to help the bottom line, which is very satisfying.
What’s the most unique part about working here?
For me it’s the flexibility of my position. It is a good combination of in office and out of office tasks. Also, no two days are the same. That keeps it interesting.
What skill do you think everyone should learn, and why?
Communication. The nature of our business has a lot of moving parts. Without knowing how to communicate with each other then then we would not be able to operate at the level that we do.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
Having a child at the age of 40!
I am not that adventurous. I guess I would have to say either drag racing cars or zip lining in Mexico.
What are three things on your bucket list?
Mainly travel. I would love to go to Europe and Australia.
I also would like to play bass guitar for the Doors.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations within the company?
Terry Reeves (CEO) and Brent Beers (COO), of course, because of what they have been able to accomplish in this industry.
I also really appreciate the entire staff as a whole. Our team is diverse and each person brings their own contributions to the team. That is what I feel makes us so successful.
What’s your favorite sports team?
I am a local guy so I like all the Dallas teams. However, I am more of a football guy, the Cowboys are probably my favorite.
What was the best concert you ever attended?
Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. It was a really cool beach atmosphere. Everyone was dancing up a storm!
Any advice you would give to yourself back when you were 21?
Invest in Apple!
